Description

Delicious bite-sized treats made with ground beef, sausage, and melted cheddar, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 pound rye bread, sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, cook the ground beef, sausage, and chopped onion over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink. Drain the excess fat.
  2. Stir in the tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and Italian seasoning.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Place slices of rye bread on a baking sheet.
  5. Top each slice with the meat mixture and sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Serve warm.

Notes

For a lighter version, swap the ground beef for ground turkey or chicken. You can also use pumpernickel bread instead of rye.
